You Can Change Your Mind!

A wise man by the name of Gandhi said - “Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values and your values become your destiny".

Well, that’s quite a mouthful, but he makes a very good point.  The beliefs and values we create shape our own personal psychology.  This then becomes the control panel for how we live our lives and the meanings and stories we associate to things.

For example, the same experience by two different people can, in some cases, have them perceiving it in two completely different ways - Person 1 may perceive a particular experience as a good thing while Person 2 may perceive exactly the same experience as negative - all due to their personal psychology of values and beliefs.

If you ever catch yourself saying things like, “this always happens to me”, I’ll never be good at that”, I’m not as lucky as other people”, I’m not clever enough”, then these beliefs are most likely affecting areas of your life leaving you unhappy, unsuccessful and unfulfilled – in your career and your personal life.

The good news is you can “change your mind”!  Our brains are not hard wired and we’re not destined to stay the same as we’ve always been.  Neuroscience has proven that we can change our beliefs and behaviours simply by thinking differently.  We’re not destined to live by what was imprinted in us by our parents or teachers or any other influence through our lives.

We have the ability to continually evolve our thoughts and change our habits, so if your values and beliefs aren’t serving you in a positive way, use your ability to change your mind and you’ll change your results.
